How many people does it sleep?

The cabin sleeps 10 across four bedrooms and three levels: an upper-level king primary suite with a private bathroom; a main-level king bedroom; a main-level bedroom with a queen and twin bunks; and a lower-level queen bedroom.

Where exactly is the cabin?

At 216 Blue Spruce Trail in Vilas (Watauga County), North Carolina — about eight minutes from downtown Boone. There's a map and directions on our contact page.

How far is it from the slopes, Grandfather Mountain, and the airport?

Appalachian Ski Mountain is about 15 minutes away, Sugar Mountain about 30, and Grandfather Mountain about 30. The nearest major airport is Charlotte (CLT), roughly two hours; Tri-Cities, TN (TRI) is a bit closer at about 90 minutes.

What's the drive like?

Classic Blue Ridge mountain roads — gorgeous, with some curves and grades. In winter, all-wheel drive or an SUV is a good idea, and we'll send seasonal driving tips before you arrive.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes — Wi-Fi runs throughout the cabin. If you're planning to work remotely, just let us know and we'll share the details.

Are pets allowed?

We're not able to host pets at this time.

Is there a hot tub?

There isn't a hot tub on-site — but between the fire pit, the decks, and the propane fireplace, cozy is well covered.

Is it good for kids?

Absolutely. The main-level queen-and-bunk bedroom is convenient for families, and there's a game table, entertainment den, fire pit for s'mores, and plenty of room to roam. Do note it's a three-level cabin with stairs, so the littlest ones will want an eye kept on them.

How many cars can we park?

There's free on-site parking for several vehicles, right at the cabin.

When is check-in and checkout?

Afternoon check-in and morning checkout. Exact times and your self-check-in details arrive with your booking confirmation.

Is the cabin accessible?

The cabin has three levels connected by stairs, so it isn't step-free. If you have specific accessibility needs, reach out and we'll be straight with you about whether it's a good fit.

How is it heated and cooled?

Central heat and air conditioning throughout, plus a propane fireplace for cozy winter nights and cool mountain evenings.

House rules & policies

No fine-print surprises — here's how staying with us works, in plain language.

House rules

  • No pets, and no smoking anywhere inside the cabin.
  • Quiet hours from 10pm — sound carries a long way in the high country.
  • Maximum overnight guests: 10. Day visitors are welcome; just give us a heads-up.
  • No parties or events.
  • The fire pit is for supervised, grown-up-tended fires only. Please fully extinguish before turning in.
  • Treat the place like a friend's cabin — because that's what it is.

Cancellations, deposits & fees

The Stay total includes cleaning, charged once per booking. Mandated occupancy taxes and service fees are grouped separately, so the total shown before checkout is the total you review.

Direct bookings use a moderate cancellation policy: cancel at least five days before check-in for a full refund. If you cancel within five days of check-in or during the stay, you will be charged for one additional night and refunded 50% of the remaining unused nights.

Hospitable displays the policy again before payment and applies it to the reservation when checkout is completed. If you book through Airbnb, Airbnb's stated policy for the listing applies.
